This photo was taken Saturday 10/25/14 in Mineral Wells Texas
The shoes in this photo just completed walking 18 miles. The shoes and the people wearing them are extremely tired. But this is only a training walk. The real walk and the real milage will take place 2 weeks from the day this photo was taken.
These shoes will join thousands of other shoes and walk 60 miles in 3 days. The goal is to raise money and awareness for breast cancer.
Each shoe represents someone’s battle against breast cancer. Some of those battles were won and others were lost.
But each shoe carries with it:
– hope for a cure
– tears for a loss
– courage for a battle hard fought.
At the end of the 60 miles each person will take off one of their shoes and hold it high. That moment will sybolize a salute to our fellow walkers who are survivors of this disease. It will also allow us a moment to reflect on those that have lost their battle against breast cancer. And those that continue to fight.
This walk will begin early morning 11/7/2014 and end the afternoon of 11/9/2014. If you are so inclined please keep the walkers, the survivors and the warriors that fight for a cure in your thoughts. Because, Everyone Deserves A Lifetime!

This is a great cause. Wow, well done on finishing the training walk. Well prepped for the main event. What colourful shoes, and what contagious enthusiasm all of you have, I can feel it 🙂 Good luck with the main walk, I’m sure you’d be all cheering each other on. This is a cause that definitely needs more attention, breast cancer is a serious issue. Glad everyone all over the world is banding together to bring more attention to it. Good luck 🙂
Thank you for the well wishes!!
We do support each other through training and the actual walk….it is an awesome event.
Yes breast cancer is serious….I lost my favorite aunt to breast cancer. I do much of this in memory of her.
I’m sorry to hear you lost someone to breast cancer. More awareness surrounding it is needed.
Looking forward to hearing about the main event. Rest up, eat well, and walk on!
My thoughts will be with you and all the walkers on this challenge!
Thank you Joanne! I appreciate your support!
On a side note….I realized recently that I had been calling you Joan instead of Joanne….I’m really not sure why. But I apologize!!
Thanks … but no worries. It’s not one of those things that bothers me 🙂
Good luck with your walk!!
Thanks!! 🙂
(and glad you weren’t gritting your teeth every time I called you the wrong name!!!)
