Y = Youth

“Youth is wasted on the young” – George Bernard Shaw

It is so true.

I recently turned 52. How did that happen?

Every now and then it dawns on me that I’m not getting a re-do.
I’ll never get a chance to jump or run like I did as a child.
Driving is a necessity….its not exciting like it was at 16.
I’ll never see my twenties again (that’s probably good…I didn’t treat them well).
Any chance I had of giving birth to my own child is long gone.

When I look back on my youth I question why I made some decisions.
What if I turned right instead of left. What person would I be if I had not walked away from a bad situation or walked into a place of peace.

Sometimes its hard to picture every little instant and every little step that brought me to this age and this moment.

Youth is long gone. But my future is bright. When I turn 82 I will look back at the youth of 52….my goal is to enjoy every possible moment in between.

The A – Z Challenge will run through April. Each day is a different letter and a different photo…I hope you all enjoy!

X = ??

Why do we have letters in our alphabet that make it hard to complete the A – Z challenge?

I have thought about this pesky little letter all day….and I’ve got nothing!!

Of course different words came to mind….but I could not seem to get my creative juices running. So tonight, with a touch of sadness, I admit defeat!

However, the letter X isn’t really a winner…it is simply a letter that chose to make my day a bit more challenging!

2 days remain of this A – Z challenge. The good news is the X is over…the next 2 letters will be much easier.

I will spend the next year searching for an X post…so A – Z 2016 will be successful!!

The A – Z Challenge will run through April. Each day is a different letter and a different photo…I hope you all enjoy!

W = Walk

I walk in memory of my Aunt Kathleen. I walk to honor those that continue to fight.

walk

I’ve walked hundreds of miles….training.

training

I walk to find a cure.

find cure

I walk 60 miles in 3 days.

3 days

Training will start next month. This will be my 4th year to participate in the Susan G. Komen 3 Day walk for breast cancer. Between May and November I will walk hundreds of miles with my teammates and friends. We will laugh, cry, doctor blisters, stretch sore muscles and buy new shoes. We each walk for a different reason. Some of us are survivors, some of us walk in memory of loved ones, some of us walk to honor people fighting breast cancer….all of us walk to raise money for a cure.

2 feet

It only takes 2 feet and the willingness to walk. When my 2 feet join thousands of other feet…we walk and we make a difference!

The A – Z Challenge will run through April. Each day is a different letter and a different photo…I hope you all enjoy!

365 Days of Photos – Day 115

Week of wildflowers continues….

This weekend we took a road trip to Eureka Springs Arkansas. I saw quite a few wildflowers I don’t typically see in Texas. So I have decided to expand the week of wildflowers  to “Two” weeks of wildflowers.

A few weeks ago I posted pictures of Pink Indian Paint Brushes. Several of you mentioned only being aware of orange Indian Paint Brushes. Driving through Oklahoma today I saw large patches of orange Indian Paint Brushes…of course I stopped along the highway to get pictures!
